What to Do

You’re going to be busy Saturday evening, but Slidell is a 45 minute drive to New Orleans, La. or Gulfport, Ms.

Here's a small sampling of the things you can do in the area:

Dine Out

If you wanna try new food, there’s lots of options for you. We recommend Kenney’s Seafood, which is an honest-to-goodness Southern seafood haven, and Amanda can provide a list of recommendations if you’re planning to take a trip into New Orleans.

Swamp Tours

Honey Island Swamp Tours in Slidell is highly recommended for anyone interested in a boat ride through the bayous. Staffed by LSU certified naturalists, it’s like being part of a David Attenborough nature program, but with entirely different accents.

…we may plan one if people are interested.

Explore

If you’ve chosen to rent a car, driving the coastal highways is a great way to see the unique views and lifestyle of the Louisiana waterfront. If you head east toward Mississippi, check out Stennis Space Center, Lazy Magnolia Brewing and the views along the Gulf Coast.
